Theydon's Pupil Leaders
School Council
Our school council is made up of members of each class and these children are elected in to post, other pupils are appointed to School Council. They have a very important role to play in school life as they are the voice of all the children. If they feel there is something that should be done or needs improving the school council can approach the Head Teacher and discussions begin! Some of the things they have been involved in include reviewing school dinner menus, deciding on playground equipment and games and were even involved in interviewing the Headteacher.
We have a very active School Council who meet fortnightly to look at and make decisions about how to make further improvements to the school.
Two children in each class from years 1-6 are elected each year by their class counterparts.
The School Council members listen very carefully to the opinions, concerns and suggestions of their classmates and work as a team to put together the agenda for the following meeting.
The School Council plays a very important role at Theydon Bois Primary School and the members are very proud of the following achievements.

Librarians
The Library Bus is always very popular with our pupils. Weekly class visits offer the opportunity for pupils to choose a book they can take home to read or share. This is in addition to their school banded reading book.
Library books bands:
Non-Fiction - Categorised using the numerical Dewey system.
Fiction - No band=Picture books with words, Y = Younger stories/first chapter books,
S = Stories (aimed at 7+), S+= Older stories, themes, longer books (aimed at 9+).
Please encourage your child to select books they can access and enjoy reading for pleasure.
Our Librarian team (assisted by Miss Ward –our school Librarian) opens the Library every lunchtime for KS2 pupils. KS1 children can attend “Story time” on Wednesdays. The year 5/6 librarians enjoy reading with expression to the younger students, using participation to engage our young readers and bring stories to life. They enable small groups to enjoy and discuss books together.
The Librarians are also responsible for adding new stock to our system, labelling, stamping, shelving books and scanning loans. They are happy to help others locate books and offer advice on what to read next.
